Wherever you are in the world, we would love you to take part in our tribute to celebrate the life and work of Pipe Major John McLellan DCM.

This year celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pipe Major John McLellan DCM.

John McLellan remains one of Scotland’s most influential pipe music composers and his significance to Cowal Gathering is immeasurable.

As part of this year’s Gathering we have asked all pipe bands to play ‘Lochanside’ as part of this year’s Salute to the Chieftain.

We would like to invite pipers who are not competing to come and join us on the Stadium to take part in this celebration.

We know that there will be pipers across the world who would want to join us in celebrating his life and work, so we are inviting pipers who can’t be with us in person, to join us remotely to play.

We will, of course, record the footage from the Stadium and share in on our social channels. We would be absolutely delighted to also share any footage sent in from those pipers who join us remotely.
