Solo Piping

Last year’s solo piping competitions was for juvenile pipers only, with the exception of the Burgh Cup. We also introduced some chanter competitions for the youngest players just setting out on their piping journey.
We are currently putting together a programme of events for the Solo Piping events for 2023. Look forward to some great events next year.
Piping Competition Senior Burgh Cup
(Event G: 16yrs and over, Local March Strathspey and Reel. Confined to those born or resident in Argyll and Bute)
Piping Competition Juvenile Open Juvenile Piobaireachd
(Event I: Aged 17 and under)
Piping Competition Juvenile Open Juvenile MSR
(Event K: Aged 17 and under)
Piping Competition Juvenile Local Juvenile March
(Event L: Aged 15 and Under. Confined to those resident in Argyll and Bute)
Piping Competition Juvenile Local Juvenile Strathsprey & Reel
(Event M: Aged 15 and Under. Confined to those resident in Argyll and Bute)
Piping Competition Juvenile Open Novice Juvenile
(Event N: Aged 15 and under)
Piping Competition Juvenile Open Juvenile Medley
(Event O: Ages 17 and Under. Medley must be 3-4 minutes long. Medley tunes can be from MSR, jig, hornpipe, slow air. Slow air to be played once through.)
Chanter Competition Beginner No. 1. Scale and 1st Part of a Tune
(under 12yrs. Can use any tune. You can use your music. Cannot compete in any other piping/chanter competition.)
Chanter Competition Beginner No.2. Two Parts of a March
(Under 12yrs. Repeat part if time signature requires. . Cannot compete in any other piping/chanter competition.)
Chanter Competition Beginner No. 3. Four Parted March
(13yrs and under. Can repeat parts if required. . Cannot compete in any other piping/chanter competition.)
Chanter Competition Beginner No.4. Two parts of a Strathspey and Reel
(13yrs and under. 2 parts of each to be played. . Cannot compete in any other piping/chanter competition.)
Chanter Competition Beginner No. 5. Slow Air
(13yrs and under. 2 parts to be played through. Cannot compete in any other piping/chanter competition.)
